Why Jesus?

"For I choose to know nothing among you but Jesus Christ and Him crucified - 1 Cor 2:2

Why Jesus? What an interesting question. It is a question asked by believers and non-believers alike. It is a question that has shaped the course of humanity for the past 2,000 years, and most assuredly it has effected yours at some point. In fact, it is right now.

Before we talk about who Jesus is, let's get past the what Jesus isn't part. Jesus does NOT equal a perfect, conflict-free life. It is a common misconception that has been spread, mainly by Christians, but just isn't true. Jesus never promises a perfect life...only eternal life...in Heaven...with Him.

Now, why Jesus? Jesus was 100% God, yet 100% human. He lived a perfect, sinless life and He did this so that He could die for your sins on a cross as predicted in the Old Testament scriptures. Why did He die for your sins? Because God is a just and holy God. Sin separates us from God and Jesus' sacrifice of Himself on a cross bridged the gap between us and God. He thought of you the very moments He was getting beaten, spit on, ridiculed and then nailed to the cross. He loves you so much that He'd rather die, than live forever without YOU.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that who ever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not the Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world should be saved through Him. (John 3:16-17)
